LA psych rockers Triptides bring their sun-drenched hallucinogenic sound to The Cobalt with Vancouver's The Sylvia Platters. November 11.
The Cobalt presents Triptides with The Sylvia Platters.
Triptides (Los Angeles, CA)
A Los Angeles psychedelic rock group led by multi-instrumentalist Glenn Brigman, Triptides began in 2010 as a series of sun-drenched home recorded tape experiments and have since grown into one of the most prolific and respected bands in the modern psych scene. Their music moves through realms of sonic clairvoyance, melted guitars, swirling farfisa organs, and vocals like sunlight through the fog, drawing comparisons to The Byrds at their most hallucinogenic and Pink Floyd at their most cosmically composed. They have performed at Desert Daze and Barcelona Psych Fest, toured extensively across the US and Europe, and won Shindig! magazine's Single of the Year. With over a dozen albums and singles behind them, Triptides remain in constant motion, always taking audiences somewhere new.
The Sylvia Platters (Vancouver, BC)
Vancouver jangle pop and shoegaze quartet described by Rosy Overdrive as "one of the best guitar pop bands going." Their 2024 debut on Grey Lodge Records, Vivian Elixir, received international praise and peaked at #7 on the Earshot! college and campus radio charts. Built on the brotherly songwriting of Nick and Tim Ubels, the band blends melodic sensibility with a keen ear for melancholy that recalls Teenage Fanclub, Alvvays, and The Lemonheads.
